Fuck da University, I miss having time for Tumblr.

“you really let yourself go”

I was thinking about this figure of speech and decided that I hate it. To say that someone has let themselves go in the aims of suggesting they don’t look as physically fit or put together, is suggesting that beforehand they were constraining themselves. Is that a good thing? Should we all be avoiding the day someone says “you let yourself go”?

Because really, it sounds very freeing to let myself go. Am I gonna go live off of ice cream for the rest of my life and stop washing my hair? Nope. They are not congruous. But the fact that they’re portrayed in such a way is definitely interesting.

If ever someone encounters me, looks me up and down and goes “Man, you really let yourself go”, I will give them a wide-ass smile, bow, and say thank you.
